Cheering on Cheer as Their Season Comes To an End

Fremont’s cheer team is wrapping up the year on a high kick! Cheer ended with a tough competition at state, qualifying from divisionals in 3rd. State competition resulted in an 8th place finish. However, at  the Wildcat Invitation, performed at Dee Events Center,  cheer delivered an outstanding performance, taking 1st in show, 1st in stunt group, and 3rd in band chant. This season has been one of their most challenging yet, setting the girls up for continual growth overall.

Beyond the trophies, the team has built an unbreakable bond, constantly pushing each other to be better. Sophomore Charli Watson reflects on their connection, “All year long, we’ve been by each other’s sides, whether on or off the mat. We’ve shared every high and low, from tough practices to competition victories. We truly are a team!” Their dedication and teamwork have played a huge role in their success, making this season one to remember.

Peyton Clontz speaks on their most recent competition, “My most memorable moment is our last competition because we did so well. It was such a great way to end the season.”

Of course, preparing for competitions isn’t easy. Senior Molly Broadbent shares the reality of the pressure, “Comp season gets really tough, and it’s easy for the team to get frustrated. But it’s important to talk things out and figure out what’s working and what’s not–so we can grow as a team, not just individually.”

Balancing cheer with school is another challenge, but team captain Kambree Rogers has found ways to stay on top of it all. “It can be really difficult,” she admits, “but making lists helps me stay productive. I’m always doing something, and this keeps me on track to get everything done.”

Kambree has been cheering since she was nine, and her passion runs deep. Coming from a long line of cheerleaders, her family has always been her source of inspiration. But her drive doesn’t just push her–it motivates the entire team. Sophomore Layna Humphries shares, “Kambree Rogers has inspired me the most. She’s an incredible cheerleader, always pushing herself to try new skills while doing well in school. She’s a role model, and I absolutely love her.”

Many students don’t realize just how much time and effort the cheerleaders put in. Kambree explains: “One thing people don’t know about cheer is how many hours we dedicate–not just to games, but to our own competitions. We’re often the first ones at school and the last to leave. Our season never really ends.”

As Molly Broadbent puts it, Fremont’s cheer team is full of spirit! “We always strive to represent Fremont in the best way possible. Our whole team stays positive and knows how to have fun anywhere we go!”

Pumping up the crowd isn’t always easy, but Fremont’s cheerleaders prove time and time again that no matter where they are–their energy and passion make every moment a show!
