The Fremont Baseball team dominated this season in both Region and Non-Region games thanks to dominance on the mound and a killer offense.
The Fremont baseball team started out the season red hot in Non-Region play. The Silverwolves went 7-3 in Non-Region games largely thanks to an impressive team batting average. Fremont tallied multiple blowout wins and won games by an average of 7 runs and run-ruled multiple opponents with ease, which means that the game ended early because Fremont was up by so many runs.
The Silverwolves also faced some tough losses early against really good Non-Region opponents. They suffered two heartbreaking back-to-back losses, one by a 7th inning rally from 4th ranked Mountain Ridge (5-6) and a shutout loss to 12th Ranked Timpanogos (0-1).
Fremont responded to these close losses by closing out strong and going 6-1 heading into Region play. Led by dominant pitching from Brant Koford, Jace Hadley, Tad Grange, and Chase Jones. This rotation of stellar starters has been a huge reason why Fremont held their opponents to only score 28 runs in the 10 Non-Region games.
Heading into Region play, Brant Koford, Senior Third Baseman and Pitcher said the goal for the team was simple. “Our goal was to win a region title. That was our goal and our main focus was on Davis.” Davis is always a challenge for all sports in our region, and this year the Dart’s baseball team was working with a nearly-identical record.
Closing out region play and heading into 6A State Playoffs, Fremont is looking to keep as much momentum they can. If Fremont can win out in region, they will earn a share of the Region Title with Davis. If the Silverwolves’ bats can stay hot, and their dominance on the mound continues, don’t be surprised when Fremont makes a run in the tournament.
