Girls Golf team battling for the number 1 spot in region

The girls golf team has been making waves this season as they battle fiercely for the number one spot in region 1. The team has an impressive team average score of 322.22. With a mix of seasoned players and promising newcomers, the team has developed a strong camaraderie that has fueled their competitive spirit.

Coach Vandyke leads and emphasizes the importance of teamwork. Stating that each player’s unique strengths and contributions add to the overall success of the team. 

The girls have been practicing rigorously, honing their skills on the course while also focusing on mental toughness, which is crucial in the high pressure environment of competitive golf. 

As Chentra Hickey, a senior on the team says, “[My] favorite part before the tournaments is blasting music and getting excited for the tournaments.” 

As the season has progressed, Susan Tiffner has had an impressive season with a scoring average of 72.55 which ranks her number 2 in the state. With only a couple more region tournaments left the girls are more motivated than ever to secure that spot at the top, not only showing their talent but also their dedication to the sport. These next upcoming weeks will be crucial as they aim to clinch the number one spot.

Fremont had their last regular season tournament at Davis park golf course. Both seniors Susan and Maddison both shot 6 over par 77’s which ended up tying for first place in the region. Fremont ended up winning the tournament which gave them a good headway going into region on Thursday May 1st.

The girls played really well at Lakeside in Bountiful and went into the last day of region with a 15 shot lead. 

They will come out of region as one of the top teams going into state which is on May 19th and 20th. Graduation takes place on the 19th as well and the senior girls are sacrificing their graduation walk for a chance at the trophy. The admin will head to the course and have a little graduation ceremony for the girls golf team to celebrate their success and sacrifice this season.
