JoJo Siwa, known for her bright energy and positive attitude as a young child star, reaches different levels of fame with ups and downs as she introduces her new image into the world. The drastic remake of her style, music, dance and overall appearance has shocked fans, but what effects did this have on them?

Her reputation began at a young age in 2015 when she was doing many things including Dance Moms, partnering with Nickelodeon and creating an overall positive brand for herself. Her objective was to serve as a role model for children, which quickly brought her a lot of recognition from younger audiences

Many fans say that something they liked most about her was her joyful, bouncy character.

Jojo started to make some big changes in her life starting in 2021 when she announced herself as a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

As she made changes to herself, her older fans had mixed feelings about it considering how the girl they grew up with now has drastically redefined her brand and appearance. Even with all the criticism, there were still a large number of supportive fans. The big change in encouragement from fans caused some people to have ambivalent thoughts about her.

Afton Hunt, a sophmore, speaks about why Jojo is so influential. She states “This is teaching to stand up for yourself.”

JoJo Siwa is a confident young woman who is not afraid to show who she has grown into and learned to become. As a celebrity it can be difficult to make big changes in fear of being judged by many because of fans’ opinions. She was able to make this transition for herself without letting negative fans get in the way of that. This is an example that when you focus on what you care about and love doing, you can’t let anybody else’s opinions matter or influence your choices. Something Jojo can remind us all is that It’s ok to be edgy in a pink bow world.
