Spooky season is here and it’s the perfect time to be scared. Beware of the ghostly tales shared by workers and former employees of Ogdens Ogden’s Haunted Hollow.
Due to the eerie legends surrounding the Hollow, paranormal investigation groups such as Ghost Adventures, Paranosis, The Unknown, and more have taken an interest.
Sue Bodily, who has worked for Haunted Hollow for six years as the prop master and makeup artist, shares her knowledge of the hauntings.
She says, “Statistically, they say that for every living person, there are nine deceased spirits, meaning the dead outnumber the living.”
Sightings at Haunted Hollow have left a lasting impression on cast members.
Shyla Handrahan, a Senior here at Fremont who worked as a scarer for four years says, “It was almost like you took everything home with you.”
One of the most frequently reported sightings is the “Gray Man”, popularized by the TV show Ghost Adventures, which featured Haunted Hollow.
Desmond Williamson states, “It’s like your ultimate goal, to see the gray man. If you don’t see him you didn’t meet the goal.”
According to several cast members, the Gray Man is most often seen near the river, as if he’s pacing back and forth along its banks. Cast members describe the eerie feeling of always being watched.
The “Gray Man” has become a topic of conspiracy among the cast, with some debating whether the spirit is good or evil.
Another strange sighting involves what appear to be two young children.
Shyla Handrahan states, “They were maybe three years old, a little blonde girl and a blonde boy. I had asked them where their parents were, but the kids kept running.”
Another cast member recalled a similar experience of seeing a young boy running around, only to see him disappear after, these both were during work hours late at night.
Since Haunted Hollow has a recommended age limit of eight and older, it was strange for Shyla to be seeing small children running around there at all.
Whether you believe in ghosts or not, one thing’s for certain, Haunted Hollow leaves its mark on everyone who dares to enter. Are you ready to experience the chills for yourself? As Sue Bodily says, “We know that there are things that happen that are completely beyond our explanation.”
Haunted Hollow is located in Harrisville, 1550 S 1900 W.
It’s open Wednesday-Thursday from 7:30 to 10:00 and Friday-Saturday from 7:30-11:00.
Who’s to say that a piece of Fremont’s history isn’t still lurking in the grounds of Haunted Hollow?
