The Fremont girls soccer team’s roster may have changed mightily, but the team’s record stayed consistent.
The 2024-2025 roster of the Silverwolves girls soccer team looked a lot different than last year’s roster. The team lost many seniors from last year’s team and lost even more players due to the newest high school, Westfield.
Assistant coach Heath Madsen said “No matter what players we have, as a coaching staff, it is our job to coach the players we have in front of us. We just came to practice everyday and did the very best we could as a team.”
Even with a massive change of players, the team’s record stayed the same as last season’s with the team finished the season with a record of 3-14 and a #17 seed in the 6A playoffs. The Silverwolves’ postseason ended in a heartbreaking 3-2 penalty shootout loss to #16 seeded Bingham.
The lady Silverwolves hope to go up from here and the future of this team looks bright. With only one senior on this season’s team, younger players are now getting more experience out on the field.
The Silverwolves were led in goals by sophomore striker Sierra Schneider, who tallied 6 goals this season. Another bright spot on the field was sophomore forward Jerzi Watson, who scored 4 goals and assisted teammates 3 times this year.
Junior forward, Carrera Taylor, said “I got closer with the people on my team and we became friends”.
These friendships will only help the team next season, when the team brings back the majority of its starting 11 and looks to improve and gain more experience on the pitch.
The teams the lady wolves will face next season could potentially be much different than this year. With a potential reclassification next year, Fremont could potentially find themselves in the 5A class next year, dropping down one division from this year. The change of scenery will surely help the record of the Silverwolves and Fremont will exit the tough region that is region 1. Next season, the lady Silverwolves will face new foes and new teams in the quest for a better season and a better record.
