National Art Honors Society gets crafty for the holidays

National Art Honors Society (NAHS)  was made for students who found a heavy interest in art and for anyone who wants to pursue art. Mostly consisting of advanced art students, NAHS tries to include the rest of the student body with Art Night’s and other activities.

NAHS has helped the club members with their own work, giving them more time in class to focus on projects. Student members say it’s good to have people who share common interests in art and to have others criticize their art and feel comfortable about it; which can also create a real confidence boost.

Students say NAHS has a great social value to their club, meeting new people and having fun during activities. It helps with people who aren’t that good with social areas, helping them get out of their shell and helping focusing on their art as well as time management.

Hailey Davis, 12th grade, says, “It has given me more time to actually focus on my art and to it it gives me more social-like experience.”

Some of the activities that they do is Art Night; where they watch movies, play games, chat, draw and just hangout, adding onto their social value of the club.

Jenna Bone, a junior, says,  “I love all the chances we get to try something new in the new people we can meet. People are fun. They’re pretty goofy, and they’re just really nice to hang around.”

When NAHS members graduate, they can often earn one of the graduation cords for NAHS. One of the ways they can earn the cords is by being present to the club’s activities, and mainly just being an active member. The cords are for when the members of the club have met all the requirements to earn it when they graduate.

When they come up with their activities they sometimes go by the season  to choose their activities, like they went and went to a retirement home on December 10, 2024; NAHS had their Christmas activity where they would paint ornaments and chat with the elderly.

NAHS is a very challenging  class, but the class can be tough and fun at the same time. Having Rrt Nights to relax and chat, having time in class to work on projects and pieces for their assignments, all help to create a community of Silverwolf artists.
