Boys and girls basketball lean on their teammates to grow

The boys basketball team has shown brotherhood that’s grown since the 1st grade this basketball season. Similarly, our girls have created bonds since freshman year that took them all the way to quarter finals this year.

Our girls were on a hot streak with continuous wins, most of which were consecutive with a total of 21 wins and 4 losses the whole season. There were only two seniors on the team this year, and the girls were able to make it to quarterfinals. The girls have shown their spirit through working for each other and especially for their head coach, Dalebout. They want to prove to her and themselves that they can work together as a team and go far, which they have presented well.

The boys persevered through a challenging season and made it to the first round of the playoffs against American Fork. However, the boys were still able to fight on and keep their brotherhood up. With the help of the team captains, the team has been able to keep spirits high. Sometimes that could include teasing each other about bus naps, playing video games together, showing each other respect, and giving each other pregame reminders.

Junior girl’s captain Lily Hall comments at the beginning of the year, “Our team’s goal this year is to play together as one and to build each other up so that we can make it to a different and higher level than we are at right now. Our motivation is our coaches, especially Dalebout. She is amazing and loves us all so much, she takes so much time for us, so we play for her and all our other fun coaches.

Girl’s coach Dalebout says, “While the season ended in the quarterfinals, I couldn’t be prouder of how far the girls came and how hard they fought. They’ve shown what true teamwork and determination can achieve, and I know they’ll carry those lessons forward in whatever comes next.”

Though the girls might not have made it past quarterfinals, they have made their coach and school proud. The girls have shown great teamwork and love for each other, celebrating the successes of their teammates on and off the court. There was never a moment in the game where you didn’t see the girls cheering each other on from the bench, creating a loving and supportive environment.

Senior boy’s player Jace Hadley insights, “We have a good brothership this year, we get each other hyped up and when we get into a game we act like we’ve been there before and keep our composure.”

Boy’s coach Melany says, “I would describe the season as one where we learned and stuck together through it all. I am very proud of this group. I love this group and I will remember this group forever.”

The boys team has faced several injuries this season, with one of their captains getting hurt at the beginning of the year, and a player getting hurt later in the year. The boys were able to step up and help each other out. Not only were they able to play for each other, but they’ve built a brotherhood that will never be forgotten and a team that will forever be remembered.

For both of our boys and girls teams we are losing several seniors, with a senior sign off, we wish them much luck in the next chapter of their lives. For now, our basketball teams are heading into a new region next year with new possibilities and teams to play against. The team’s hope to see you filling the stands next year!
