Broc Heslop is one of the star mountain bikers here at Fremont.
Broc Heslop is a senior that loves to mountain bike, fish, hunt and basically anything outdoors. Broc is a very mellow, down to earth and humble person. In spite of this humility, Broc has achieved great things as a mountain bike prodigy.
Heslop reflects, “The mountain bike team is a great thing and it has taught me so much, it has changed me and I know people who have started it and done it and even if you aren’t into racing or anything like that it is a great way to meet great people. Y’know it’s not like football, nothing too serious.”
Broc is on the Fremont mountain biking group, one of the biggest groups at our school. because the group is not sanctioned they have to bring their own equipment. But that doesn’t mean they don’t rep the Silverwolves throughout their season.
Broc has been mountain biking for about 6-7 years, starting at the age of 13 after getting his first mountain bike. Broc enjoys mountain biking not just for exercise, but for scenery and spending quality time in the mountains.
Heslop states, “you get to explore, get to see different things you may not always see.”
Heslop has been on the bike team for 6 years, and this year he raced varsity after setting that goal for himself. He raced to win, he wanted to place high in state and region, and then on the side he raced some extra ones just for the practice. Taking 3rd in region and 15th in state Heslop shows his passion and determination hobby
On the topic of his success, Broc Heslop mentioned, “I don’t know, I guess I have a lot of perseverance and I set my mind to something and I work for it.”
