Movie theater dates aren’t in anymore, so here’s some things that are. Doing the same thing over and over again is getting old. Here are some ideas to help out.
For the Nature Lover
If you like watching sunsets and talking, Ogden’s viewpoint would be the way to go. (Be sure to stop by a gas station and grab some snacks while you’re on your way there!) A walk in the park or maybe a hike from the place of your choice would be a fun addition to this date if you’re wanting a more active choice. You could even drive up Ogden Canyon and just look at the pretty mountains.
For the Artist
If hiking isn’t your thing… The Art Box offers a perfect date for those who are into creative and crafty experiences. This shop offers an awesome candle making class that guides you through making your own candles! Check out the artboxogden.com, or run over to the Monarch on 25th street for more information on candle making.
Color Me Mine is a studio on 25th street where you paint ceramic sculptures. You can bond and create your own piece of work. There is also an option called “paint and watch” where you both can go, day or night, and watch a movie while painting. If you don’t feel like going to their shop, you can get one of their to-go kits and paint at home or at the place of your choosing. There is an unlimited number of colors to choose from. The Price depends on what you want to do. The mug package is $12 per person, and tile is $7. The to-go paint kits are based on what you want to paint and also the paint that you choose.
Painting in the park. There’s many different ways to have fun with this date! For starters, you can switch paintings every five minutes, and after a certain time you can see the masterpiece you both created. All you’ll need is to go to the craft store, buy two canvases and some paint, then pick a park of your choice and paint. There are countless YouTube videos to guide you through some fun projects. Bring some snacks, and a drink even, and enjoy the moment.
For the Casual Competitive
If you like skating, lasertag, or arcade games, then Classic Fun Center is for you! The pricing starts for skating at $5.95 per guest from Monday – Thursday, then $9.95 on Fridays and saturdays. There’s also an unlimited pass for those who just can’t get enough of playing laser tag– however, this isn’t for the faint hearted. Two hours of unlimited play is $13.95 per person, and three hours is $18.95 per person. They also have a pretty decent Snack Bar with pizza, nachos, and even some fried foods, if that’s something up your alley.
You can even go to Walmart or Target and pick out an outfit for your partner or gifts for each other based on color or categories like stuffie, snacks, favorite drinks, etc. Depending on what you picked, it can determine what you can do, like going to watch a movie later at home or at Newgate Mall.
For the Reader
If you’re into reading, you can always go to Barnes and Noble and pick a book for each other and get a coffee. The Barnes and Noble down in Layton has a Starbucks in the store, so you can drink while browsing the sections. After that, you both can go to a nearby park or back to the cafe and read a little.
There’s many different places to go with your loved one. Some dates can be based on what you or your partner likes. When you first decide to ask them on a date, make sure you know what some of their interests are to find the best date idea possible for the both of you. If they like art, base it off that or maybe if they like to be outside, plan something outdoors. Don’t forget to choose a date that not only they like, but you as well. Have fun and be safe.
