Get Involved! Fremont’s holiday fundraisers

By: Isabel Rice

The holiday season is coming up, and with it, the Kash 4 Kids fundraiser is coming back strong. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the fundraiser, and we’re bringing back our favorite fundraisers and inviting some new ones into the mix.

The SBO’s are heavily involved in K4K, but this is not just an SBO fundraiser. Everyone is encouraged to get involved. Raising money for K4K is a great opportunity to give back to the community.

The fundraiser helps kids and families in Fremont, people you work with and see every day. It works to help struggling families pay for Christmas. It also helps pay for school lunches, medical expenses, dental costs, and can even help kids get nice clothing for job interviews.

While mainly run at Christmas time, K4K is not just a holiday fundraiser. This fundraiser runs all year long and is always looking for new fun and engaging ways to raise money and get students excited and involved.

SBO president, Atley Mitchell, says, “We want to make it feel like a fun thing, rather than an assignment.”

This holiday season, Kash 4 Kids events will attempt to raise money from the student body and community with various activities.

Basket Raffle

One of the most popular fundraisers every year. The raffle is an easy fundraiser to get involved in, tickets only cost a dollar, and the more you buy, the higher your chances of winning are. These baskets are full of so many goodies you’re going to want to bet on and the average worth of a basket is $200!

The school wants everyone to get involved:

“Encourage your department, clubs, teams to get a basket ready for the K4K raffle” says Mrs. Pollard, student government advisor.

Donations can be submitted until November 20th. After that, the site for bidding will be posted as a button on the Fremont website. Raffle winners are announced at the winter assembly on December 20th.

Holiday Market

A new fundraiser this year, the holiday market is an opportunity for students and community members to come together and sell handmade goods and items.

Spots in the market will be rented out for the day and this money will go towards K4K. It will cost $10 for students and $20 for community members. Anyone is welcome to set up a stand for the market and sell their own items and creations.

This fundraiser will take place in the Fremont commons and cafeteria on December 4th from one to seven.

SBO Fundraisers

The SBO drink stand will be returning this year and will run every A day all of November and December. During lunch you can buy a drink from the stand in the Commons and all of the proceeds will go towards K4K.

Miracle Minute

One day during flex in December, the SBOs will be going classroom to classroom, collecting spare change and any donations anyone is willing to give. This is called the Miracle Minute, make sure you bring your change to donate!

Other Fundraisers

National Honors Society (NHS) is organizing a Shoeboxes for Veterans fundraiser. Anyone in the school or community can put together a box to donate.

Suggested donations include books, playing cards, beef jerky, dry food items, toiletries, notes of encouragement, and winter clothing items.

NHS will collect these boxes in Mrs. Remy’s room and donate them to veterans.

Dance company is performing at the Subi Foundations Christmas fundraiser on December 14, at 1pm. The event runs from 11am to 3pm and includes activities for kids and performances from various artists. The Subi foundation supports education and health for women and children living in Uganda.

Hope Squad and Cheer are getting involved in the Christmas Tree Jubilee, which donates Christmas trees to families who cannot afford them. They also help fund class and school grants, field trips, and enhanced education programs and opportunities.

Hope squad will be selling candy grams during lunch to raise money for the Christmas Tree Jubilee.

With so many fundraisers going on around us, it’s easy to get involved! Check out these opportunities and give back to the community.
