Pride in the Pack

By Elea Layton

Welcome back Silverwolves! There have been a ton of new changes for Fremont already. We have some new additions to the school as Fremont’s boundaries have changed. We have also had a decrease in the student body population due to Westfield being built. We have gained some new student athletes and coaches and lost some old friends, but all in all we are building back up and pushing to remain Forever Fremont.

Drill coach, Coach Hagi, who came from Ogden School District. “It’s really refreshing to walk into a school district like Weber’s, and a school like Fremont where they understand their core values and their mission statement and they live by it.”

Keelee Rasmussen, a junior that previously attended Weber High,  says, “It’s been pretty scary leaving all my friends that I’ve been comfortable with since kindergarten, coming here not knowing anyone.” but she goes on to say, “People here are so much more humble and nice.”

A strong sense of community and school spirit is something that Fremont needs this year. Assistant principal Mr. Denton, previously a teacher at Fremont for over 20 years, talks about how it feels to be a silverwolf and why school spirit is so important for Fremont this year.

“There’s no place I would rather be. Fremont is a special place and it’s really the only place I’ve ever wanted to work.” Mr. Denton goes on to talk about how last year was hard on everyone but this year is a refreshing start for students and teachers, to get back to what Fremont does best which is building each other up and having pride in the pack.

School spirit and being proud of where you get your education is one of the best things you can do for your school’s environment. Participating in traditions and embracing your school’s culture can significantly help peers come together to be part of something special they will never forget. Participating in things like Spirit Week, being part of the Hype squad, going to school dances, Senior Sunrise, Silver Wolf of the Month, or being part of a team can make the high school experience so much fun and enjoyable.

Mr. Denton goes onto say, “I think it’s a chance for them to get out and become more involved then they have in the past because it just seemed so crowded, but now that it’s not as crowded I think every student should have a chance to go and support something”

At its core, school spirit is all about connecting with one another. This is the year we need connection the most. Come to as many school events as you can, show up and show out. And be proud to call yourself a Silverwolf!
