Boys and Girls Basketball looks ahead to the season

Fremont’s Basketball teams are looking ready for region!

Our boys and girls basketball team work hard to prepare for the season. Part of this preparation includes playing pre-season and non-region games. It helps get a good look on how the team plays together before the intense environment of the regular season begins.

Each team (girls and boys) have been playing games and practicing in preparation. They have already begun improving their technique and getting an overall look on how the season will pan out.

Charli Hunt, one of the girls team captains, says, “¨I think we are doing a lot better than we thought we would, there is still a lot to work on, but overall I think people are underestimating us.¨

And based on the girls pre-season record, that’s correct considering they are so far third in 6A region. These games help the teams recognize places for improvement. Preparations are taken differently with every team.

Similarly, Boys basketball is working to establish a consistent rhythm. One of the boys team captains, David Calvert, explained. ¨”I think we need to stay consistent and not play down to the level of our opponent. We need to play hard every night. We have to be conscious about how we are playing and do our best to encourage each other.”

Christian Blanch, another captain, even says, “¨I feel like this year is different because everyone wants to get the state championship and just make it from the playoffs. We are all way more positive this year than the last couple years and on the bright side of things. I feel like we want it more than the last couple years.¨

The boys are showing this passion for winning in their performance, currently third in 6A region. The dedication both teams are displaying is taking them farther into chances of the championship.

The girls team has its own struggles, but it has to do more with the competition than their own teams.

Coach Dalebout states one of the biggest challenges so far, ¨Our schedule, our pre-season is really hard, usually you get a couple easier games or teams but there are no easy games in our preseason. We have to go really hard against each other and be really competitive during practice and take it really seriously that we have to play hard. Everyday you have to come to improve, you can’t just go through the motions.¨

Each team is built with dedicated and determined athletes, which reflects how far the basketball teams have already come.Coach Dalebout adds, ¨Whenever you get a team that works this hard, you’re gonna get better and have success.¨

Fremont is in for an intense regional season, boys and girls. So make sure to come and support our basketball teams. Give these amazing athletes a crowd to impress!
