Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) is a national school organization that is focused on the medical field and brings some of the starting courses into the high schools. Our HOSA chapter is making “Stop the Bleed” the main focus of this school year.
Stop the Bleed is a program focused on providing the necessary training and equipment to help save lives by preventing someone from bleeding out. It’s public safety training to aid those in dire need of medical assistance while waiting for professionals to arrive on the scene.
Fremont is focusing on providing life-saving training and the kits to assist in this preventative care. The kits for this can be bought or even made, and the training could teach you how to make a personal kit.
HOSA is focused on getting the kits bought and made for this program. They are also planning on providing training very soon for all to partake in.
Students and the community can be involved by attending these training sessions and spreading the word about them. The more this is talked about, the more attention can be brought to such an important opportunity.
You could save a life by learning some of these simple skills and procedures from these training sessions.
In addition, HOSA is hosting a Blood Drive here at Fremont all day on Tuesday, November 1st in the Lecture Hall.
It would be a shame to pass up such an incredible opportunity to educate yourself on the steps of preventative care and emergency response treatment.
