Notebooks, friends and forearms- A Tattoo prodigy

Kiana Gooch’s artistic journey started with passion, determination and most of all practice. At the age of 13 she started with a sharpie, using her own skin as a canvas. It didn’t take long for others to recognize her talent.

She got the idea to become a tattoo artist from her friends telling her she had a gift for the arts and told her she had a shot in the tattoo industry. Kiana gave it some thought and realized it wasn’t a half bad idea.

She filled notebooks, forearms and Pinterest boards  with her ideas and drawings. Working with others helped develop her art through different techniques and styles.

“I’m working on other people and asking for a photo they want no matter how complex or easy, that just gives me some help.”

Kiana doesn’t use social media to promote her work but keeps it local. Recording her work with photographs she develops a portfolio and prefers to promote herself by word of mouth.

Kiana is only starting her exploration. There’s still a long way to go, finding an apprenticeship, learning the needle and building a clientele.

¨I’m working on my precision and steadiness… Straight lines are my biggest challenge, skin moves around a lot so that’s pretty difficult to manage.¨

No matter what comes next, one thing is for sure, this is one person worth keeping an eye on. She just might be giving you your next tattoo.
